Caring for the Suffering with Love and Compassion

Let us prepare for the bleak years ahead, as Jesus mentions, nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Many people will lose their homes, and most of these victims are unreached people. MISSION PATHWAY sets up CARING FUND to shares God's love and care with the unreached people. We partner with different Christian organizations and frontline workers to provide emergency funding to those in needs.

MP's Refugee Care Minister Fundraising and Prayer Needs

Refugees in Limbo:
Endless Wait for Resettlement

In 2025, the UNHCR estimates that nearly 2.9 million refugees will need resettlement globally. The number of requests increases annually, up from 2.4 million in 2024, and compared to 2021, the demand has more than doubled.

As of the end of November 2024, there were approximately 192,170 refugees and asylum seekers registered with the UNHCR in Malaysia. Among them, around 54,880 are children under the age of 18.

Those displaced due to conflict, violence, persecution, and human rights violations are indeed vulnerable. Instead of receiving protection, refugees are threatened and persecuted by their own countries. Most of the time, they find themselves caught in the conflict between government forces and local ethnic armed groups, suspected and attacked by both sides.

Malaysia is not a signatory to the 1951 Refugee Convention, so it has no obligations to accept refugees. All refugees are considered undocumented migrants. However, Malaysia allows asylum-seekers apply for refugee status through the UNHCR while waiting for resettlement in third countries.

In Malaysia, refugees have no right to work, and their children cannot attend public schools. Their stay is temporary, not permanent. In fact, many countries are struggling to meet the needs of their own people and less willing to accept refugees. Many refugees face prolonged waiting periods, which can last more than 10 years. They are stranded for a long time, and their futures are bleak.

The needs of refugees are great. Our greetings, visits, care, hospitality, and offerings bring them God's love.

"The LORD watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked." (Palms 146:9 NIV) Over the years, we have visited refugees regularly, established friendships and built relationships of trust. We saw that they appreciated our cares. The offerings we made blessed them and their children.

All the refugees we met care about their children's education. It was the main reason they left everything behind, fled their own country, and sought a better future.

It is our hope that the MP's refugee care ministry will bring love to refugees. While there seems to be no hope, there is God's light.
