North Korea

Once again, North Korea is the most dangerous place for Christians in the world.
In 2023, the country strengthened its border defenses, making it more difficult for Christians to escape and harder for outsiders to support and reach them.

Algeria has risen 4 places in the ranking.
Previously, the country had 47 Protestant churches; now only 4 remain open.

4,998
Christians were Killed

In 2023, an average of 13 Christians were killed daily for their faith;
82% of the killings occurred in Nigeria.
Nigeria remains the deadliest place to follow Jesus.

Attacks have Increased 7-Fold

14,14,766 churches and Christian properties were attacked,
with attacks on churches, Christian schools,
hospitals, and cemeteries increasing 7-fold compared to the previous year.

PRAY FOR THE UNREACHED NOV 1

North Korea

01Nov

The stifling sense of suffocation, which denies them the freedom to breathe, overwhelms Christians in North Korea. In North Korea, being discovered as a Christian is tantamount to a death sentence. Believers are either treated as political prisoners and subjected to harsh treatment, or executed on the spot, with their families facing the same fate. Many believe that tens of thousands of Christians are imprisoned in labor camps. The “DPRK Law on rejecting reactionary ideology and culture” explicitly states that practicing Christianity is a serious crime punishable by severe penalties. Gathering for worship carries extreme risks, and cases of home gatherings being raided by authorities are not uncommon.

Poverty envelops the entire country like an invisible net. There is limited arable land. Imported food is prioritized for social elites and the military, leaving ordinary citizens often struggling on the brink of starvation. The UN estimates that about 42% of North Koreans are malnourished. Christian families are often overlooked in food distribution and have limited access to food, work, and housing opportunities.

However, despite the enormous cost of following Jesus, more and more North Koreans are coming to faith. Ji Ho-jin, remembering the Lord’s teachings, made a sacrifice and said, “The more I know God, the more my life changes. I’m still hungry, but I’ve started sharing with my neighbors, hoping to express Jesus’ love for them through this.”

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, may every child of God feel Your gentle love and remain steadfast in their hearts through Your strength, holding onto the hope in Jesus Christ. May God protect the precious times when North Korean Christians meet secretly in prison or in hiding; grant Christian parents wisdom and creativity to know how to safely share their faith with their children. May God protect Your church, and when Your children must make difficult decisions, may the Holy Spirit guide them to make choices that please You, testifying to the world of Jesus Christ’s redemptive power and drawing others to You. We pray for North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un, that his thoughts and intentions may be submitted before God, and that he may have the wisdom and ability to formulate benevolent policies that will allow all North Koreans to escape poverty soon and have their basic needs met. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!

Somalia

02Nov

The path of following Jesus is full of thorns, intertwining bitterness and sweetness. Somali Christians have a profound understanding of the heavy cross they must bear as disciples of the Lord.

When Elsa first tasted the joy of parenthood with the birth of her first child, the Heavenly Father also prepared another gift for her. God arranged for a foreign messenger to meet Elsa, and the seed of the Gospel was quietly sown in her heart. Elsa began to question the Islamic faith she had believed since childhood. She spent 3 years exploring Christianity and the Quran and ultimately accepted Jesus without hesitation.

However, Elsa quickly realized that this choice was destined to be difficult. “I gained Jesus, but at the same time lost my relatives, husband, and compatriots.” Somalia practices collectivism, where individuals have close relationships with their clans and communities. Departing from Islam is seen as a betrayal of culture and clan, and converts will face complete rejection from their families.

In this land, church life is simply non-existent, and believers cannot gather openly. Danger is everywhere. Killing Christians is a “high-value target” for the radical group Al-Shabaab, which has repeatedly declared its intention to wipe out all Christians.

Note: Al-Shabaab is a fundamentalist Islamic terrorist organization that implements strict Islamic law in the southern and southwestern regions it controls. Christians living in these areas face the most severe persecution for their faith.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, You know every person, You know the names of each Somali Christian, and You know their life stories. May the Holy Spirit strengthen the hearts of Somali Christians, grant them courage, and let them feel the warmth and joy of Your presence. When Somali Christians take great risks to follow You, protect them from harassment by families, communities, and radical groups. May Jesus on the cross be a comfort to Somali Christians, for He too was greatly persecuted in this world and not welcomed by people. May the Holy Spirit illuminate the hearts of those persecutors, so that they may recognize Jesus Christ as the eternal Savior. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!

Libya

03Nov

After the Arab Spring, Libya fell into chaos with warlords vying for control, leading to ongoing national instability. The east is governed by the Libyan National Army, while the west is controlled by militia groups associated with the official government. Both forces are heavily influenced by radical Islamic ideology, putting Christians at extreme risk of violent threats and life-threatening danger.

In this environment, Muslims who convert to other religions often face severe persecution from family and community—risking house arrest, physical attacks, kidnapping, sexual violence, and even death. For converts to gather for worship would be tantamount to digging their own graves, making church activities nearly impossible to sustain locally.

Even foreign Christians are not safe in this land. Christians from other parts of Africa (many of whom are displaced persons trying to reach Europe via Libya), lacking Libyan citizenship, are extremely vulnerable to kidnapping and being sold into slavery, or becoming live targets for the radicals to vent their anger.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we bring the brothers and sisters in Libya before You. For a long time, they have been striving to live a life of worship to You in a chaotic, unstable, and deadly environment. May You personally comfort those Libyan Christians who have lost loved ones or been driven out of their families. We ask You to reveal Your steadfast love, compassion, and grace to those Christians who are under house arrest, facing physical attacks and kidnapping, or confronted with forced labor and sexual violence. God! We earnestly pray that You supernaturally protect displaced persons from all over Africa, allowing them to safely reach places of refuge. May You grant authority to suitable Libyan leaders, empowering them to stabilize Libya’s politics and economy, and guide the nation towards peace and freedom. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!

Eritrea

04Nov

Eritrea has long been at the forefront of the World Watch List, with its government’s dictatorial rule earning it the grim nickname “North Korea of Africa”. In this land of unfreedom, only three Christian denominations are legally allowed to exist: Eritrean Orthodox, Catholic, and Lutheran. All other Christian followers face severe oppression, though even believers of the three legal Christian denominations must endure close government monitoring. Openly discussing religious persecution or criticizing government interference in church affairs is seen as a provocation against those in power, resulting in imprisonment.

According to estimates nearly a thousand Christians are currently indefinitely detained in prisons without any formal charges. Some house church members have been in solitary confinement for over a decade. In January 2024, 30 adult Christians and several children were arrested at a birthday celebration in the capital, Asmara.

The government monitors every citizen and stigmatizes Christians. This means that anyone converting from Islam to Christianity or leaving the Eritrean Orthodox Church to join evangelical or Pentecostal churches faces unimaginable pressure - threats of forced military service, torture in prison, or denial of medical resources when ill. Despite this, many brave Eritrean Christians continue to walk with the Lord.

Note: Those in solitary confinement live in a separate cell, unable to communicate with others. Extensive research shows that solitary confinement has profound negative effects on prisoners, leading to long-term mental health issues.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, in this land of Eritrea, Christians face the risk of arrest and forced military service. We pray for those imprisoned and those forced into military service against their will. You are a merciful Father and the God of all comfort. May You personally become the help of Eritrean Christians, enabling them to face their days with courage, looking to Your promises and relying on Your mercy through bitter times. May You doubly bless Eritrean Christians who, despite decades of unceasing persecution, remain faithful followers, fighting the good fight for You and living in the likeness of Christ. We boldly pray for You to change Eritrea, allowing the people of this country to have religious freedom and equal treatment for all. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!

Yemen

05Nov

Death threat text messages have become a daily routine in Saleh’s life. As a Yemeni Christian leader, such threats are nothing new. Islamic extremists view him as their top wanted target, even publicly offering a bounty for his capture. But Saleh remains fearless. He loves his homeland and is determined to spread the gospel of Jesus throughout Yemen.

Saleh prayed to God, seeking ways to spread the gospel. The answer came in establishing a network of house churches. About 70% of Yemeni Christians cannot meet regularly, and for safety reasons, they don’t know other believers. House churches are their only gathering places.

Family members urged Saleh to leave Yemen, but he struggled, saying, “If I run away, what example would I set for the church? I’ve always encouraged Christians to be brave and strong, reminding them that following Jesus will bring hardships. Now is our time to bear witness.”

For two months, Saleh was forced to hide at home. “Some days I was full of hope, but there were also times of weakness and discouragement. It was during those dark days that I truly felt God’s presence,” he said.

To this day, Saleh continues to travel in Yemen and neighboring countries, shepherding local house churches. “Despite the harsh environment, the church is growing! I dream of a day when there will be Christians in every village and town.”

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we thank you for Saleh’s courage, but we also ask for more grace for the brothers and sisters in Yemen. We pray that You protect all Yemeni Christians from the evil one, provide for all their needs, and prepare times for them to gather together, giving them opportunities to enjoy the companionship of fellow believers and bear one another’s burdens. When Yemeni Christians follow You despite the dangers, please give them courage and wisdom to make choices. May their new life in Christ attract surrounding friends and family to turn to You. We beseech You to end Yemen’s civil war and bring peace to this troubled country, so that Yemeni people can live and work in peace, and worship You freely. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!

Nigeria

06Nov

Nigerian Christians continue to face enormous persecution, especially in the Muslim-majority northern regions, where they endure relentless threats and attacks from Islamic extremists and bandits. The number of Nigerian Christians killed for their faith each year exceeds the total from all other regions globally. These atrocities often involve property destruction, kidnapping for ransom, sexual assault, and murder, leaving many without livelihoods, fleeing their homes alone, with only misery and trauma left behind.

During President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure, extremist groups such as Fulani militants, Boko Haram, and the Islamic State West Africa Province became increasingly rampant, with frequent attacks on churches, making Nigeria a hotbed of religious persecution. The government has failed to effectively protect Christians or hold perpetrators accountable.

The rise of Islamic radicalism stems from issues such as global warming, environmental degradation, and the rise in population. Fulani herders, seeking survival, lead their livestock southward, causing conflicts and tensions with farmers, including Christians. The involvement of armed groups has escalated simple conflicts into cruel religious confrontations.

Although Nigeria has half of its population as Christians, the north implements strict Islamic law, treating Christians as second-class citizens. Muslim converts to Christianity often face rejection from their families and pressure to abandon their faith.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, many of our brothers and sisters in Nigeria have experienced terrible persecution and trauma. We pray for Your gracious hand to heal their wounds, pour comfort into their hearts, restore their spirits, and rebuild their lives. May You protect Nigerian Christians who are facing attacks and threats, surrounding them with Your peace, making them feel Your real presence. As they strive to respond to persecution according to Biblical teachings, please help them so that the aroma of their lives may attract more people to turn to You. We ask You to strengthen church leaders on the front lines, giving them sufficient courage and strength to face difficulties. May You bring peace, stability, and security to Nigeria, and prompt the new government to implement effective policies to protect Your children and fairly distribute resources. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!

Pakistan

07Nov

In August 2023, the Christian community in Jaranwala, Pakistan, suffered a devastating attack. Over twenty churches and nearly a hundred houses were destroyed, and Bibles were burned. This violent incident once again highlighted the hostile environment faced by local Christians. Reports suggest that this attack was in retaliation for alleged desecration of the Quran by two Christians.

Christians are targets of Pakistan’s notorious blasphemy laws. Although Christians make up only 1.8% of the total population, about a quarter of blasphemy accusations are against them. The Pakistani Senate recently passed measures to further strengthen this controversial law, including increased penalties. Many Christians live under the shadow of possible false accusations.

Besides the blasphemy law, Christians suffer various forms of torment. The number of Christian girls kidnapped, abused, and forced to convert to Islam is increasing, with courts turning a blind eye. Systemic discrimination leads to Christians being marginalized, only able to take jobs considered low and dirty by society.

Although churches enjoy some freedom to gather, they are still under close surveillance and often become targets of bomb attacks. Persecution incidents are mainly concentrated in Punjab and Sindh provinces. Christians from Muslim family backgrounds are more likely to face persecution from radical Islamic groups and their own friends and relatives.

Sudan

08Nov

In April 2023, Sudan erupted into a devastating civil war, stemming from a power struggle between the Sundanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). This brutal conflict has resulted in over 9,000 deaths, nearly 6 million displaced people, 165 churches forced to close, and human rights violations such as rape, kidnapping, and robbery.

For an extended period, there has been concern that the civil war could enable Islamic extremist groups to regain influence in Sudan, jeopardizing government reforms that have provided greater religious freedom for Christians, such as the abolition of apostasy laws and the elimination of Islam as the state religion.

Those most directly impacted are Muslim converts to Christianity, who even deliberately avoid teaching their children about Jesus, fearing the children might inadvertently reveal their parents’ faith to others.

Recently, the conflict in Sudan has intensified in the capital, where most of the country’s Christians reside. Now they have to pack up and flee their homes. Sporadic fighting has also occurred in regions such as Darfur, Blue Nile, and the Nuba Mountains, where Christians are equally subjected to indiscriminate attacks.

Please don’t forget to pray for the people of Sudan. Ask God to care for displaced Christians. Pray for strength for church leaders serving in the turbulent situation and pray that churches will soon break free from their predicament.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we call upon You to bring peace to Sudan and end this civil war. We ask You to intervene and prevent extremist forces from taking advantage of the situation to gain a foothold and disrupt the country’s safety and stability. At this moment, we ask the Holy Spirit to encourage Sudanese Christians, especially those who are discouraged, weary, and hurt, to restore their faith and reignite their lively hope. May You be a refuge for the brothers and sisters in Sudan, meeting all their needs and protecting them from the effects of war. We pray for the protection of the transitional civilian government and their reforms and efforts regarding religious freedom and women’s rights. May You move more of Your people, with hearts filled with Your love, to see the difficult situation of Sudanese Christians and offer their resources to help them through this turbulent time. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!

Iran

09Nov

Iran’s tolerance towards members of traditional Christian churches (such as Armenians or Assyrians) is merely superficial; in reality, they are treated as second-class citizens. Members of traditional Christian churches are prohibited from conducting worship or reading the Bible in Farsi. If they become associated with Muslim converts to Christianity, they face arrest and imprisonment.

As for Muslim converts to Christianity, there is no place for them in Iran. The state prohibits Muslims from converting to Christianity, viewing it as a conspiracy by Western powers using religion as a guise to undermine the Islamic regime. Anyone found participating in house church activities may be charged with endangering national security, facing long-term imprisonment, or suffering torture and abuse.

Muslim converts to Christianity not only face persecution from the government, but also heavy blows from their own families and familiar neighbors—they may lose their inheritance rights, be forced into marriage with a Muslim, or even lose custody of their children.

In July 2023, Iran once again launched a large-scale crackdown on Christians. However, Christians continue to risk their lives to secretly participate in underground church activities. God’s work has not stopped; He continues to move among His people, causing the church in Iran to grow.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we thank You for showing us that even in the midst of storms and turmoil, You are still at work—the church in Iran is growing. We ask for Your protection over the hidden Muslim converts in Iran, that You may shield them from arrest and imprisonment. Grant them the ability to safely join underground church gatherings, where they can worship You in unity with their fellow believers. Help them to embody the teachings of the early apostles, to live in fellowship, and to care for one another with Your love. May they inspire love and create a beautiful testimony within Iranian society that draws others to Christ. For those who are imprisoned because of their faith in Christ, may the God of mercy gently draw near to them, revealing Your grace and mercy to them. We also pray for the Iranian government; may the Holy Spirit work in the hearts of those in authority, so that they may come to respect human dignity, freedom, and equality out of reverence for the Creator. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!

Afghanistan

10Nov

My name is Yasaman. I have been married to my husband for 11 years, and we have five children, ranging in age from 10 years to 1.5 years old. My husband is a teacher, and he accepted Jesus two and a half years ago. He tried hard to share his faith with me, but I was skeptical and often argued with him. Our relationship became strained, and at one point, I even took the children back to my parents’ home, considering divorce.

One night, I had a dream in which someone asked me if I had ever read the Bible. This dream had a profound impact on me, and I asked my husband for a Bible, eagerly reading it with great hunger. I was deeply moved and decided to embrace the Christian faith.

We live near a mosque, and some people became suspicious of my husband’s behavior. One morning, while he was out buying groceries, he was followed and brutally murdered. I was plunged into deep despair and loneliness.

Fortunately, a friend in the Lord and his family came to visit me, offering emotional support and encouraging me to fulfill my husband’s mission of spreading the Gospel. I found comfort in God’s embrace, and my faith became even stronger.

To the Taliban, there are no Christians in Afghanistan. Most house churches have either closed or gone underground in secrecy. The entire country is under strict Islamic rule, which means that Afghan Christians face difficult circumstances wherever they are.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we join together in prayer for our brothers and sisters in Afghanistan, who are secretly holding on to their faith and courageously following in the footsteps of Jesus. Please be with Your children in Afghanistan and watch over their safety. Let them see Your great light shining in the darkness, experiencing Your gentle love. May You help them endure the pressures from their families and communities, and know how to live out their faith in appropriate ways. We pray that You will prepare safe channels for Afghan Christians to gather with their brothers and sisters, finding strength and belonging in fellowship. We also pray for Afghan refugees who have left their homes, that countries will ease their refugee policies and open pathways for asylum and residence. May You raise up Your saints to serve the refugees, providing for all their needs so that they can rebuild their lives in a new environment. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!

India

11Nov

The policies of Prime Minister Modi’s government are highly controversial. On one hand, he has implemented various social welfare programs to improve the lives of Indian citizens, including infrastructure projects such as water management, housing, and port construction. On the other hand, in India’s multicultural society, he has promoted Hinduism above all, stoking Indian nationalism, using the judiciary to suppress dissent, and controlling the media to propagate favorable information.

Nowadays, questioning Modi is almost equivalent to questioning Hinduism and is considered blasphemous. The manipulation of religious sentiments and national identity has deepened divisions and conflicts within Indian society. The exclusionary attitudes of many Hindus towards minority groups are increasing, with Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians facing significant discrimination, including frequent harassment and violent attacks. For instance, during the 2023 Manipur riots, Christians were disproportionately targeted.

An increasing number of states are passing anti-conversion laws, posing a significant threat to Christians. According to statistics, over 2,300 pastors, church leaders, and believers have been falsely accused, arrested, or detained under these laws.

Note: This conflict was triggered by ethnic tensions between the Meitei people (who practice Hinduism) and the Naga and Kuki peoples (who practice Christianity).

Syria

12Nov

In February of last year, Turkey and Syria were struck by the most severe earthquake in their history. Countless people perished or were buried under the rubble, and millions of survivors were left homeless, forced to endure the cold winter in temporary shelters. Yet, in this dark moment, the church united to support the grieving and vulnerable people of Syria, providing food, warmth, and a place to stay for disaster victims.

Although the survivors’ physical needs were met, the emotional scars are not so easily healed. A Syrian man named Rehob lamented, “Our souls are tormented by the trauma, haunted at every moment.” Syria needs our prayers. Many Syrians live in fear of another earthquake, and many remain displaced, with many homes scattered across the land that are still in need of repair. The smoke of Syria’s civil war has yet to clear, and many Christians have already left, with another wave of emigration brewing, leaving the future of the local church in doubt.

Mission teams are doing their utmost to strengthen the faith of local believers, encouraging them to be the salt and light in this land. We pray that God gives strength to Syrian Christians, helping them see His hand at work and feel the warm support of brothers and sisters around the world, so that their inner wounds may be healed by Jesus Christ.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, Syria has been ravaged by war and suffering over the past decade, and we ask for Your healing and salvation. May all Syrians who are traumatized, grieving, or in pain experience the peace that surpasses all understanding, finding their hearts and minds kept safe in You amid the storms. May the Holy Spirit strengthen the hearts of Syrian Christians, giving them the power to be salt and light in their communities, especially after last year’s devastating earthquake. Lord, we also pray for peace in this country, asking the Holy Spirit to move in this land, guiding all parties in conflict to lay down their weapons, seek possibilities for ending the war, and respond to God’s call to be peacemakers, prioritizing the well-being of all Syrian people. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!

Saudi Arabia

13Nov

Omar, a thoughtful man, began his journey of following Jesus through reading and study. Initially, he was merely curious about Christianity, but his life was completely transformed after meeting a Christian family while living abroad. This family not only guided him to read spiritual books but also fervently discussed faith with him. Gradually, the Holy Spirit opened Omar’s eyes, and he saw the light of truth, deciding to dedicate his life to the Lord.

Upon returning to Saudi Arabia, Omar joyfully shared his Christian faith with his family and community, only to be met with condemnation and rejection, severing all ties with him. Despite this, Omar continued striving to live a Christian life pleasing to God albeit difficult. He watched his children learn Islamic teachings in school, and his Muslim wife, deeming it too dangerous, refused to accept Jesus.

This is the reality for most believers in Saudi Arabia. Converting to Christianity is seen as bringing shame to the family. While a few are brave enough to openly declare their faith, many choose to keep it hidden, even from their own children. Foreign Christians in Saudi Arabia also face similar challenges in sharing their faith and participating in church activities. However, it’s noteworthy that Crown Prince Salman is pushing the country toward a more “moderate” Islamic tradition, and the social atmosphere seems to be opening up, with some Saudis secretly exploring Christianity.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we praise and thank You! Despite the immense pressure and persecution faced by Christians in Saudi Arabia, Your church continues to grow, a true testament to Your miraculous power. We pray for those brave brothers and sisters who practice their faith and share the Gospel despite the risks. May God grant them courage and wisdom, guiding them to encounter seekers of truth. We also ask You to heal those who have been rejected by Saudi society for their faith. May You show them mercy and comfort and protect and help those Saudi Christians who have become displaced due to the exposure of their faith. Father God, we pray that all Your children in Saudi Arabia may fellowship in Your love, enjoying a beautiful community life together, never feeling alone. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!

Mali

14Nov

Lost homes, burned churches, and loved ones taken by the wind. This is the reality for countless Christians in Mali, and it’s also the life experience of Pastor Adama. “Our region in northern Mali is facing a great threat. People’s fear grows daily, with constant news of fighting, kidnappings, various attacks, and banditry, even in the cities…”

In 2012, Islamic militants launched a rebellion in northern Mali, sparking a civil war that continues to this day. They occupied vast territories in the north, seizing vital water sources and fertile lands, and kidnapping many missionaries serving in the area, harshly persecuting those who abandoned Islam. Every Christian living in Mali continues to live in fear, constantly facing threats to their lives.

Jihadist violence is spreading to southern Mali, as the control of state institutions weakens, leaving vast areas in a state of anarchy and under the control of jihadist groups. The Malian government’s inability to curb the expansion of insurgent forces has sparked large-scale public protests, ultimately leading to two military coups in 2020 and 2021. At the same time, Mali has become a battleground for the geopolitical influence of major powers from both the East and the West.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we ask You to be the strength of Malian Christians, their help, and their refuge. Please provide for all their needs, including their daily bread and the ability to overcome suffering and persecution. Loving Lord, may the Gospel capture the hearts of all Your children, guiding them to boldly and graciously resist evil and respond to the injustices perpetrated by the militants. We pray that the Holy Spirit works salvation in the hearts of these Islamic militants. We earnestly look to You to appear to them through dreams and visions, showing them the path of truth, so they may turn and follow You, the one true God. May You establish a strong and influential church in Mali, blessing and bringing light to this dark land. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!

Algeria

15Nov

Most Algerian Christians come from a Muslim background. In their daily lives, they face hostility and exclusion, not only from relatives and friends who mock and scorn them but also from extremist Islamic teachers who pressure them and from the pervasive anti-Christian sentiment in society.

In recent years, the Algerian government has increased its repression of Protestant Christians. Many churches have been closed, and evangelistic activities have been strictly limited. The government has threatened to prosecute some church leaders simply for continuing to hold worship services. At the same time, Algeria has enacted laws that prohibit any actions that might “shake the faith of a Muslim” or use “means of seduction intending to convert a Muslim to another religion.” The vague and broad definitions of these offenses provide ample room for the suppression of Christian evangelism.

Currently, only four Protestant churches remain operational across the country while the other 43 have been shut down. Some Christians have even been imprisoned for their faith. On this vast land, an unprecedented wave of persecution is sweeping over Algerian Christians, leaving them in a dire situation.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we join together to pray for our brothers and sisters in Algeria. May You draw near to them, providing comfort and strength, healing their wounds, and restoring their bodies and spirits. As Algerian Christians endure the pressures of persecution and discrimination, we ask You, God, to grant them resilient hearts, lifting them up and encouraging them to continue following Your path. Lord, we especially pray for church leaders in Algeria. Despite witnessing the closure of many churches, they continue to hold meetings and serve, even at the risk of imprisonment. May You reveal Your loving-kindness to them, allowing them to experience Your sufficient grace. May the Holy Spirit move the hearts of Algeria’s national leaders, allowing God’s people to worship openly and freely without the threat of arrest or harassment. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!

Iraq

16Nov

Sarah was a Muslim girl who grew up in Baghdad, Iraq. Her mother passed away when she was young. Although her father was Muslim, he wasn’t very devout. When Sarah was 15, a friend gave her a Bible, which changed the course of her life.

Sarah began reading the Bible and became increasingly drawn to it. The Bible described a God full of love, very different from the God depicted in the Quran. “Islamic teachings made me fear God (Allah), but the Bible completely overturned everything I had previously heard.”

The journey to finding faith was not an easy one. When Sarah questioned Allah in front of her father, he was enraged, confining her to the house and shouting, “Let’s see how your God will save you now.”

However, God did not forget her. Sarah says, “Every night, I would dream of someone reaching out their hand and taking me to a very bright place.” Ten days later, a miracle happened. “I felt like I was in a dream. That morning, I woke up in a hotel room in a city in northern Iraq, several hours away from where I lived.”

This miracle gave Sarah a deep understanding of God’s love. Although her faith caused a rift with her family, she has never regretted following the Lord. “I found a new family, the Christian community.”

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we ask that You help the Christians in Iraq not to be overwhelmed by their circumstances or defeated by their hardships. May Your grace nourish them like living water, giving them the strength to face all trials. May Your peace comfort their wounded hearts and heal their scars. We also pray for all the people of Iraq, asking that more humanitarian organizations take notice of their needs—such as post-war trauma care, vocational training, and community rebuilding—and offer professional assistance. We intercede for the persecutors in Iraq, asking that Your light shine upon their hearts, leading them to seek the truth, let go of their prejudice and malice towards the Christian faith, and instead follow the example of the loving Savior. We earnestly pray that Your Spirit will transform and renew the persecutors, guiding them onto the path of righteousness and peace. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!”

Myanmar

17Nov

Since the military coup in Myanmar in February 2021, the situation for Christians has become increasingly difficult. Even in predominantly Christian areas such as Chin State and Kayah State, they have not been spared from airstrikes. Large numbers of Christians have been forced to leave their homes, seeking refuge in temporary camps, with more people displaced than ever before. Some have even fled into the jungle, deprived of access to food and medical care.

Christians have been part of the peaceful resistance movement, and some Christian armed groups have joined the fight. The government forces indiscriminately attack Christian villages and churches, killing Christian aid workers and pastors. In addition to the ongoing civil war, new believers also suffer persecution from Buddhist, Muslim, or tribal communities because they have abandoned their former faith.

The Myanmar military is skilled in using technological military techniques to monitor and suppress the Christian minority. They wiretap phones and track online activities, putting immense pressure on the lives of Christians and the missionaries serving in the area.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we pray for the people of Myanmar who are facing the threats of conflict and persecution. In these difficult times, we ask the Holy Spirit to grant strength, comfort, and support to the Christians in Myanmar. When they are oppressed, may You be with them, so that they may not lose hope. Lord, we ask You to protect the churches and Christians in Myanmar from harm, guiding them with wisdom to respond to challenges in the right way. Help them to be messengers of peace in Myanmar, responding to hatred with the love of Jesus Christ. God, we urgently seek Your face and ask that You bring an end to the civil war in Myanmar. May the Gospel transform the hearts and minds of those in power, so they may desire to be instruments of righteousness, bringing freedom and justice to all the people of the nation. We entrust the burdens of the Myanmar people into Your hands, and we pray that Your will be done in Myanmar. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!

Maldives

18Nov

The Maldives is a chain of islands that welcomes tourists from around the world, but unfortunately, it does not welcome Jesus and Christians.

This country prides itself on being 100% Muslim. Becoming a Maldivian citizen means becoming a Muslim. In the tightly-knit Maldivian community, any behavior deviating from Islamic values is easily detected, so “apostates” must keep their faith secret or risk losing their citizenship, being isolated from society, and losing social benefits due to violations of Islamic law.

While foreign Christians (mainly working in tourism) have more freedom than local Muslims who convert, their gatherings are strictly monitored by authorities, leading many to choose not to meet. Additionally, foreign Christians are strictly prohibited from sharing their faith with Maldivians. In 2022, the government issued a new decree to tighten scrutiny on foreigners. According to this decree, all foreigners, whether in tourism or other industries, must strictly adhere to Maldivian Islamic laws and values.

It is noteworthy that Christians have not yet become a direct target of extremists, but this is only because they consistently act cautiously and discreetly.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, in this Muslim nation, the brothers and sisters are cautiously holding onto their faith. While we may not know the names of each of these few Maldivian Christians, You do, Lord. We ask that You comfort each one of them, reminding them that You are always with them, and that within the global church family, saints around the world are praying for them. We also boldly ask You, God, for a breakthrough in the translation of the full Bible into Dhivehi, the official language of the Maldives, by 2025. May the people of the Maldives be able to receive Your Word in their own language and taste the sweetness of the path to eternal life. We pray that during the new presidential term, there will be progress in religious freedom, allowing for greater tolerance and respect in Maldivian society. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!

China

19Nov

In China, religious freedom has always been a sensitive topic. Although the constitution grants citizens the freedom of religious belief, the government imposes control over various religions. In 2024, the government required officially recognized Three-Self Patriotic Churches to display slogans promoting “love for the country, love for religion, and love for the Party.” For many churches and Christians in China, the challenge of how to pass on their faith to the next generation under legal restrictions remains a pressing concern.

Ethnic minorities in the western regions, where Islam and Tibetan Buddhism are prevalent, also face persecution from their own communities. Anyone who converts to Christianity is seen as a traitor to their family and may face danger and harm.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we pray for Christian families in China. May You grant parents wisdom and courage to pass on their precious faith to the next generation, even under legal restrictions, and bear witness to Your power and love through their lives. We remember those brothers and sisters in China who cannot gather regularly; may You strengthen their faith and uphold them with Your Word, teaching them the secret of joy in the wilderness of life. We also lift up the church leaders and pastors in China who are under great pressure. Holy Spirit, guide them with wisdom as they continue to shepherd Your flock and boldly bear witness to Your name. We especially pray for Christians in minority regions, that by the power of the Holy Spirit, they may stand strong in their faith and be faithful witnesses for You, responding to persecution from their communities with gentleness and humility. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!

Burkina Faso

20Nov

Religious extremism is spreading at an alarming rate in Burkina Faso, leaving innocent civilians, particularly Christians, to endure unimaginable trauma and tragedy. One of these victims is Martinie. On a Sunday morning, after attending a church service, she was speaking with fellow congregants when they were suddenly attacked by a group of Islamic extremists. The attackers set fire to Bibles and the pulpit, and brutally shot all the male members of the congregation. On that fateful day, Martinie lost her husband, father, brothers, and brothers-in-law. Left with physical and emotional wounds, she became a displaced refugee, homeless and devastated.

The crisis of religious violence in Burkina Faso is escalating, with both Christians and moderate Muslims being forced to flee their homes to escape extremist threats. Men are frequently targeted and killed in these attacks, leaving behind countless widows and orphans. Currently, more than 2 million people in Burkina Faso have been displaced due to ongoing security issues, with over 800,000 of them living in areas controlled by extremist groups. The situation has worsened since the withdrawal of French troops from the northern region, further destabilizing the country.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we lift up the people of Burkina Faso who are enduring kidnapping, sexual violence, and threats of death. We ask for Your divine protection and healing. Comfort their wounded hearts with Your boundless love, granting them the courage and strength to renew their hope and faith in Christ. Draw near to the Christians who have been displaced by violence, tenderly binding their wounds with Your loving hand and revealing Your presence to them through visions. Guide mission agencies and churches to serve Burkina Faso with compassion, bringing hope, restoration, and love, while addressing their many needs. May Your peace and justice prevail, and may You call more Christians to pray fervently for the people of Burkina Faso. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.

Laos

21Nov

“Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” (Jeremiah 29:7 NIV) Jeremiah’s words encourage us to pursue the welfare and peace of the communities we inhabit. Yet, living out this biblical principle is not always easy.

This winter, eight Christian families—around 30 individuals—in northern Laos found themselves facing expulsion. Since 2020, they have faithfully served their village, but this year, the village chief, along with other residents, demanded they renounce their faith or be forced to leave. For these villagers, who rely on farming for their livelihood, leaving the community would mean the loss of income and stability, which could be a death sentence.

Christians in Laos regularly face pressure for their faith, alongside a rise in violent incidents. The Lao government closely monitors Christian religious activities, and house churches are considered illegal, forcing them to meet in secret. Even registered churches often face harassment and false accusations.

The situation for believers in Laos is precarious. They are viewed as traitors by their families, accused of angering local spirits, and subjected to threats from both family members and the government. Family members often encourage villagers to expel them from the community, and church leaders are frequently targeted for persecution.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, look with compassion upon the Christians in Laos who are under surveillance and oppression, especially the church leaders. May Your loving hand guide every one of Your people in Laos, granting them wisdom and courage from above. Even in difficult circumstances, may they see signs of Your grace and experience the abundance of Your provision, giving them the strength to keep moving forward. We pray for those who have been expelled from their communities, asking You to raise up support and encouragement around them. May the valleys of tears they pass through become springs of grace, testifying to Your mighty arm, which has never failed. We ask for Your protection and blessing upon the unregistered churches in Laos. May they may remain faithful in gathering and enjoy fellowship with their brothers and sisters, even in the poorest of conditions. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.

Cuba

22Nov

Praise, rumba, salsa, conga drums, samba, Latin jazz, reggae... Cuba is a land rich with musical culture. This vibrant Caribbean island nation, after being colonized by Spain following European explorers’ arrival in 1492, eventually was taken over by a communist regime.

As a staunchly atheist state, the Cuban government views Christian churches as potential threats and competitors, subjecting them to strict control. Churches must apply for legal registration, but the government often delays the process, forcing many to operate illegally. Even when registration is approved, churches are subjected to intense scrutiny and surveillance, with government sympathizers or state security personnel often infiltrating church activities.

Anyone who openly criticizes the communist regime, raises concerns about human rights, or exposes corruption faces harassment, defamation, and even imprisonment—particularly church leaders and believers. After the large-scale protests in Cuba in 2021, Christians who supported or participated in the demonstrations were harshly repressed. In 2022, the Cuban government passed a new Family Code, and Christians who publicly opposed it also faced significant persecution.

Yet, despite these challenges, we thank God that the church in Cuba continues to grow.

Note: The significant changes in the new Family Code include the state’s recognition of same-sex marriage, the legalization of LGBT adoption, and lawful unpaid surrogacy, which many Christians have publicly opposed, believing these changes contradict biblical values.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, no one can hinder the unstoppable work of Your revival. We thank and praise You for allowing us to witness the rise of small house churches, like new shoots breaking through the soil in the face of adversity. Father God, we ask that You remove the burdens weighing on the hearts of pastors and co-laborers in Cuba, so they may eat in peace, sleep soundly, and be guided through every trial to persevere in the good fight for the truth. We also pray that You bless the secret believers in Cuba, strengthening their hearts so they will not be lost in confusion during these turbulent times. May they shine brightly like stars in the night. We ask that Your Holy Spirit move the hearts of Cuba’s leaders to open the doors to the gospel, allowing the body of Christ to gather publicly and legally. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen!

Mauritania

23Nov

Mauritania is a predominantly Islamic country, where Muslims who convert to Christianity face severe persecution, including the death penalty imposed by the government. In addition to legal repercussions, converts experience hostility from their families and society, often being expelled from their homes, losing their jobs, and in some cases, being forced to live in exile. The presence of Islamic organizations further threatens Muslim converts, forcing them to receive baptism in secret. Although Western expatriate Christians generally enjoy religious freedom, proselytizing remains strictly prohibited.

Most Christians in Mauritania are from sub-Saharan African countries, and they often face discrimination in employment, not only because of their faith but also due to racial prejudice. As the government enforces its “Arabization” policies, job opportunities for foreign workers, particularly Christians, are shrinking, making their economic prospects increasingly bleak.

While Muslim converts can connect with fellow believers through the internet and social media, finding spiritual companions is fraught with challenges due to poor infrastructure and concerns over family privacy. In rural areas, where tribal and family ties are deeply entrenched, Muslim converts are under immense pressure. Additionally, Islamic militants operating along the eastern border pose a significant threat to local Christians.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we sincerely thank You for the unwavering faith You have bestowed upon the Christians in Mauritania. May Your loving-kindness envelop each believer, allowing them to clearly see the marvelous works You are performing in their lives. We especially pray for our brothers and sisters who bear heavy crosses for following You, asking that the Holy Spirit sanctify them and help them cling to Your promises amid the fierce storms of life. May they experience the incomparable sweetness of Your companionship and guidance and receive the crown of life from Your gracious hand. Under the pressure of the “Arabization” policy, we ask that You provide foreign workers with sufficient job opportunities to sustain their basic needs. May You soften the entrenched Islamic worldview in Mauritania and guide the nation toward religious freedom, protecting Your children from the threats of militants. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen!

Morocco

24Nov

Morocco is a traditionally Islamic country with 99% of its population adhering to Islam. Despite the increasing influence of Western culture, Moroccan society remains conservative. For the small Christian community in Morocco, especially those who have converted from Islam, daily life is fraught with significant challenges.

Muslim converts often face intense pressure from their families and communities, who demand that they return to Islam. Lacking permission to hold public gatherings, they are forced to meet in home churches. Although conversion to Christianity is not legally considered a crime, Morocco’s well-informed and powerful security forces pose a risk of arrest and interrogation for these converts.

The Moroccan king claims direct descent from the Islamic prophet Muhammad and thus holds a high religious status in the country. As a result, the authorities view the spread of Christianity as a potential threat to the royal family’s religious legitimacy within Islam. At the same time, the government remains cautious of radical Islamic groups and suppresses non-Islamic beliefs to appease them. Consequently, Arabic Christian resources are restricted, and Christians must use pseudonyms on social media and carefully share their faith.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we ask for Your divine protection over the Christians in Morocco, guiding them away from the dangers of arrest and interrogation by the authorities. Open a path of peace for them, enabling them to worship and praise Your holy name and continue on the path of following You. We lift up those who are imprisoned, praying that the darkness of their confinement cannot obscure Your loving light. May Your mighty hand bring them through their trials, allowing them to experience Your abundant grace and stand firm once again. We also pray that You will break through the barriers set by Moroccan security forces and deliver Christian resources and gospel materials to seekers in unexpected ways. Watch over new believers in Morocco, helping them to remain fragrant with the life of Christ even in a hostile environment, becoming powerful witnesses to Your redeeming love. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen!

Uzbekistan

25Nov

As a historical nexus of the Silk Road, Uzbekistan has long been a melting pot of diverse ethnicities, cultures, and religions. On this fertile land, the juxtaposition of ancient cities and modernity reflects a blend of rich Islamic heritage with notable Russian cultural influences. However, the historical tapestry of multiculturalism has not translated into openness or tolerance in Uzbekistan. The government enforces religious restrictions through the “Religion Law,” requiring all religious groups to register before conducting religious activities.

Different Christian denominations in Uzbekistan face varying degrees of pressure. The Russian Orthodox Church, due to its limited interaction with the Uzbek population, experiences relatively less governmental repression. In contrast, smaller, non-traditional churches such as Baptists and Pentecostals face significant challenges. These groups are particularly vulnerable to police raids, threats, arrests, and fines, and are often labeled as “extremists” and “spies” by the government, with accusations of attempting to undermine the existing regime.

Since coming to power in 1991, Islam Karimov abandoned democratic ideals in favor of dictatorial rule, steering Uzbekistan toward autocracy. Even after Karimov’s death in 2016, the iron-fisted regime that supported his rule remains intact, with no signs of easing the stringent policies restricting religious freedom.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, the suffering endured by Christians in Uzbekistan is beyond our comprehension—facing raids, threats, job losses, anad even imprisonment, they pay a heavy price for their faithfulness to You. May they fully understand today that You are watching over them and value their devotion and sacrifice. Let them see Your guiding light in the darkness and feel Your sustaining presence in their trials. We ask that You protect the church in Uzbekistan, granting them the wisdom and courage to persevere in their difficult circumstances. May the Holy Spirit touch the hearts of those who persecute them, softening their stance against the gospel. Bring healing and comfort to Your children who are enduring persecution, and may they, through the solace You provide, be a source of comfort to others in distress, including those who do not yet know You. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen!

Bangladesh

26Nov

Bangladesh is a predominantly Muslim country where Christians often face discrimination and marginalization, and anti-Christian hate speech freely circulates on social media.

Ashana, a Christian mother, is troubled by the challenges of enrolling her 4-year-old son, Jahangir, in school, fearing that his religious background might lead to exclusion by his peers. As she had anticipated, on the very first day of school, the teacher sent Jahangir home, citing “no available space in the class” as the reason. When Ashana confronted the school administration, the teacher bluntly stated that Jahangir’s presence might cause Muslim students to leave, which was why he was sent home.

Stories of educational discrimination based on religious beliefs are common in Bangladesh. Many young Christians, particularly those who have converted from Islam, suffer bullying from teachers and peers throughout their education. They are often reluctant to openly express their faith and lose enthusiasm for learning. The pain and persecution they experience from a young age can lead to identity crises later in life.

Christian parents facing such unfair treatment in schools have few avenues for redress. Their complaints are often ignored or they are pressured to remain silent. When their children’s basic right to education is denied, how can parents remain indifferent? Ashana is left feeling deeply helpless.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, may Your grace touch the Christians in Bangladesh, healing their physical and emotional wounds with Your mighty power. They endure significant pressure, discrimination, exclusion, and attacks for their faith in You. Bless them as they navigate through the shadow of death and let them experience Your peace and hope in Your presence. May the Holy Spirit ignite the hearts of young Christians in Bangladesh, rekindling their passion for learning and helping them understand that You are the source of all knowledge. We pray that the Holy Spirit strengthens their faith, guiding them to find a sense of belonging in Your love and to recognize their inherent worth as cherished and beloved children of God. Lord, we also pray for those who persecute them. May their eyes be opened to Your unconditional love and abundant grace. Let the light of truth shine into their hearts, leading them to find new life in Christ. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen!

Niger

27Nov

On a fateful Wednesday, a dramatic turn of events unfolded. The presidential guard, clad in military uniforms, detained President Bazoum, seized the national television station to launch a coup, abolished the constitution, and closed the country’s borders. The leader of the guard, Tchiani, boldly declared himself the new leader of Niger. Over the past decade, Central and West Africa has witnessed nine military coups, and now, Niger’s crisis adds another explosive element to this already volatile region.

Jadi, an experienced security analyst, is deeply concerned about Niger’s future. He candidly remarks, “Niger has always been an island of peace in Central and West Africa, with a relatively stable domestic situation. But now, Niger is entering an uncertain new era full of potential risks, and extremist Islamic groups will undoubtedly seize the opportunity to infiltrate.”

Niger has long been a crucial partner for the West in countering terrorism. However, the military coup of 2023 has undermined all previous efforts, triggering a domino effect of instability. Jadi trembles as he says, “Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Chad—now it’s Niger’s turn. Who will be next?” Any political upheaval is likely to empower Islamic extremism, putting Christians and churches in jeopardy.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we pray that, following the military coup in Niger, the influence of extremist organizations will not spread across the land and that the country will return to its previous stability and peace. Lord, may the Christians in Niger find comfort and support from You, and we ask for Your protection to keep them from harm and away from evil. May Your power thwart the schemes of those who seek to incite violence, and guide them to turn towards You, becoming vessels of Your will. Heal our suffering brothers and sisters, meet their needs, and help Your children to keep their eyes fixed on You in times of difficulty. Shine Your face upon them, granting them courage and strength to hold fast to their faith in the face of adversity. Lord, may Your love dispel all hatred and violence in Niger, and may Your justice and mercy take root in the hearts of the people. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen!

Central African Republic

28Nov

Zoufni, Stephen, and Mofela, three boys still in their youth, lost their legs in a church bombing. Zoufni often laments that he will never become a skilled football player, yet he refuses to succumb to hatred and revenge. Instead, he hopes for the opportunity to tell the Islamic extremist who threw the grenade that he has forgiven him. Stephen, standing nearby, shares, “I have forgiven those senseless attackers.”

In the Central African Republic, a land ravaged by civil war, countless innocent civilians have lost their lives and homes. Anti-government militias have set churches on fire, forced Christians to join their ranks, and subjected many to murder, abduction, and sexual violence, leaving behind devastated communities and families. Despite the chaos around them, Zoufni, Stephen, and Mofela continue to courageously engage in school and sports activities and remain steadfast in their church attendance. They are deeply grateful for the support and assistance from compassionate individuals and hope that their lives, marked by adversity, will still unfold into something beautiful.

It is the power of Jesus Christ on the cross that has granted these boys a level of forgiveness beyond their years.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we are deeply grateful for Zoufni, Stephen, and Mofela, and for the strength You have provided them to forgive those who have wronged them. We also praise You for the courage You have instilled in them to love their enemies and to boldly share the gospel. We ask for Your continued protection and guidance for these brave boys. Grant them the wisdom, resolve, and perseverance they need to face the challenges of living with disabilities. Provide for their every need so that they can live with dignity and purpose. We pray for Your extraordinary grace to bring peace and stability to the Central African Republic, ending years of conflict and unrest. May the nation return to normalcy, and its people find serenity and prosperity. We also lift up those who have lost their homes and livelihoods, including Your beloved children. May Your compassion surround them, giving them strength and hope in their time of despair. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Turkmenistan

29Nov

Although the Turkmen constitution guarantees freedom of religion, Christians in this Central Asian country face severe restrictions. The government deploys extensive state security forces, including the police, the National Security Council’s special service, and local imams, to closely monitor all religious activities. The printing or importation of Christian materials is heavily regulated, making it nearly impossible for Christians to openly share their faith.

While Sunday services of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Armenian Apostolic Church are monitored by the government, their long-standing presence affords them relatively more freedom. In contrast, Protestant denominations such as Baptists and Pentecostals are frequently targeted by authorities, facing regular harassment, intimidation, arrests, and severe penalties.

Muslim converts to Christianity face particularly harsh persecution in their daily lives, enduring not only government pressure but also hostility from family, friends, and their communities. Men often suffer physical abuse, threats, denial of inheritance rights, and discrimination in the workplace. Women may be subjected to house arrest, forced marriages, and in some cases, the threat of sexual violence.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we pray for our weary brothers and sisters in Turkmenistan who endure constant restrictions and surveillance. Please refresh them with the Holy Spirit, renewing their strength and faith in Christ. Bless their church leaders with wisdom and resilience, enabling them to guide the church to flourish despite adversity, and to remain discreet under the watch of the authorities. Grant Turkmen Christians the bravery to witness to the power of Jesus Christ through their lives, and to draw their friends and family to You through their example. Father, we ask You to transform the spiritual climate of Turkmenistan, allowing Your church to establish itself and grow, and to inspire more people to seek and worship You, the one true God. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

Nicaragua

30Nov

Since the outbreak of anti-government protests in 2018, Nicaragua has been caught in a vortex of turmoil, with the Christian community bearing a significant share of the suffering.

The protests initially stemmed from public dissatisfaction with President Ortega’s social welfare reforms but soon evolved into widespread demonstrations against his authoritarian rule. In response to escalating dissent, Ortega’s government resorted to brutal measures to suppress the unrest, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of protesters.

Many churches and believers spoke out against the government’s violence and demanded President Ortega’s resignation, making them targets of severe government retaliation. The regime, under the pretense of maintaining social order, imposed strict restrictions on churches, seizing their property and shutting down Christian schools, media outlets, and charities. Ortega labeled church leaders as “terrorists” and “coup plotters” to weaken their influence and suppress dissenting voices. In this repressive environment, some Christians, fearing for their safety, have opted for silence, causing further divisions within the church community.

Once a beacon of democracy in Central America, Nicaragua is now descending into authoritarianism, with Christians becoming one of the most affected groups.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, Your people have shown unwavering commitment to the teachings of Jesus, openly condemning the government’s injustices despite the personal cost. We ask that the Holy Spirit strengthen their faith, allowing them to experience Your powerful presence in their trials and to witness Your miraculous works. Wherever they are weak, may they find strength in You. Lord, heal all wounds and grant Nicaraguan Christians ongoing wisdom, courage, and protection in an increasingly hostile environment. May they exhibit humility and gentleness in their interactions. Preserve the unity of the church in Nicaragua, enabling it to grow in Your grace and goodness. We also pray that the Holy Spirit deeply impact President Ortega and his officials, guiding them to view the Nicaraguan people through Your eyes. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

The MISSION PATHWAY is a free-will offering, suitable for individuals, fellowships, cell groups, and parent-child families,
